American Artist's presentations of how identity has become lost in today's age are interesting. They even went as far as to obscure their own identity, changing their name to American Artist, as a way to break the stereotype of an American artist being a white male. Their work not only brings to light the ambiguity of the digital age but the prejudice and racism that comes with it. When they suggest that "anti-blackness... exists equally in the iPhones... and the set of politics we use to guide our lives" I feel like they are trying to say that iPhones allow for more hate and prejudice to circulate, especially on the Internet where people can spread their bias anonymously and without consequence. Their work helps bring to light issues that can be lost in an age where information and identity are completely in the dark.
